TV Trolley & Smart Board Stands: Mobile Carts, Rolling Stands and Display Trolleys

A TV trolley stand does something a wall mount cannot. It lets you roll the screen from one room to another, reposition it for a different audience, or move it out of the way when it is not in use. For classrooms, conference rooms, showrooms and any space where the display has to travel, a mobile TV cart is the only practical answer.

This guide covers TV trolley stands, mobile carts, rolling stands and smart board trolleys: how to size one, what the weight ratings mean, and which stand suits which room. The products are listed above; the guide is here if you are still deciding.

What we stock: TV trolley and mobile cart stands from Rs 14,500 to Rs 160,000, covering screens from 32 inches to 120 inches, including KALOC, North Bayou (NB) and commercial grade smart board stands. Same day delivery and installation in Colombo, island wide in 1 to 2 days, cash on delivery available.

What makes a trolley stand different

A TV trolley stand is a floor standing bracket on wheels. The screen mounts onto a vertical pole or frame and the whole unit moves on casters. There is no drilling, no wall damage and no permanent installation: you assemble it, roll it where you need it, and lock the wheels.

The baseA flat platform carrying the casters. Wider bases are more stable, which matters more the bigger the screen gets.
The columnA single steel pole or a dual pole frame supporting the bracket. Height adjustment comes from here.
The bracketThe plate that bolts to the back of the screen using the VESA holes, then locks onto the column at your chosen height.
The castersUsually four wheels, at least two of which lock. Locking casters are not optional on a stand carrying a large panel.
The shelvesOne or more AV shelves on the column for media players, laptops, conferencing kit or consoles.

Three measurements before you buy

Screen sizeMeasured diagonally, corner to corner. We stock carts for 32 inch up to 120 inch screens. A stand rated 32 to 75 inch fits any size in that range.
VESA patternDistance between the four mounting holes, horizontal x vertical in millimetres. Your TV pattern must fall inside the stand range.
TV weight without the standThe panel alone, not the boxed weight. Always pick a stand rated above your screen, never level with it.

How to find your TV VESA pattern

Lay the TV face down on a soft surface. Measure the horizontal distance between the left and right mounting holes, then the vertical distance between the top and bottom holes. Holes 200mm apart both ways means VESA 200x200; 600mm across and 400mm down means VESA 600x400.

Screen sizeTypical VESA pattern
32 inch100x100 or 200x200
43 to 50 inch200x200 or 400x200
55 to 65 inch400x400
70 to 85 inch400x400 or 600x400
85 inch and above600x400 or larger
Good to know: a stand supporting VESA 600x400 also fits a screen with VESA 200x200, as long as the mounting plate covers the smaller holes. Confirm the stand range includes your pattern.

Weight capacity, base width and locking casters

A trolley carries the full weight of the screen on a moving base. Unlike a wall mount bolted into concrete, it has to stay upright with the panel held on a pole above it. Three things decide whether it does.

  • Never match the weight rating exactly. If the screen weighs 30kg, choose a stand rated for 50kg or more.
  • Check the base width. A narrow base under a 75 inch panel feels top heavy, whatever the rating says.
  • Locking casters are essential. An unlocked trolley can roll if knocked, which is dangerous with a large screen on it.
Screen sizeTypical weight without stand

43 inch7 to 10 kg
50 inch10 to 14 kg
55 inch13 to 17 kg

Choosing by screen size

32 to 65 inch screens

The most common range for mobile carts. A 32 to 65 inch panel weighs 4 to 28kg, so a standard trolley handles it easily. The Low Height Mobile TV Stand covers 32 to 65 inch at the entry price, useful as a confidence monitor or a low level display. If you want height adjustment, the Trolley Movable Smart TV Stand 32 to 65 inch is rated for 50kg, supports VESA 100x100 to 600x400, and includes an adjustable AV shelf and lockable wheels.

Up to 75 inch screens

A 65 to 75 inch panel weighs 20 to 38kg, and this is where a heavier frame starts to matter. The Trolley Movable TV Stand 32 to 75 inch, model 1700 is rated for 75kg with VESA up to 600x400mm, tilts -15 to +15 degrees, swivels 360 degrees and carries adjustable AV shelves.

The North Bayou NB-AVA1500-60-1P is the professional option in this bracket: a UL tested frame rated to 45.5kg, with adjustable height, integrated cable management, a height adjustable AV shelf and smooth rolling casters.

75 to 100 inch screens and smart boards

Above 75 inches you need commercial grade. A 75 to 100 inch display weighs 28 to 80kg, beyond what a standard cart can hold safely. The Heavy Duty 43 to 100 inch TV and Smart Board Rolling Stand is rated for 110kg with VESA patterns up to 900x600mm, a 360 degree swivel that allows portrait or landscape, tilt from -15 to +15 degrees and adjustable shelving.

Beyond 100 inches: we stock stands for screens up to 120 inches, and multi screen commercial carts. Those are specified case by case, so message us with the panel model and we will confirm the right frame.

Smart boards and interactive displays

Interactive panels need the same mobility as a TV but ask more of the stand. A smart board is heavier, and it gets touched constantly, which puts sideways force through the frame that a TV never does.

  • Higher weight rating. Classroom interactive panels typically run 40 to 80kg; an 86 inch board can exceed 60kg.
  • Wider base. A touched screen pushes backwards. The base has to be wide enough that it cannot tip.
  • Wider height range. Boards are used by standing presenters and seated students, so the column needs more travel than a TV cart.
  • More cables. HDMI, USB, touch and power all run at once, so cable management matters more, not less.

The Movable Smart Board Stand 1800S is built specifically for interactive panels. For the largest boards, the heavy duty 43 to 100 inch stand above carries up to 110kg and rotates between portrait and landscape.

Rolling cart or fixed floor stand?

Not every floor standing screen needs wheels. If the display stays in one place and you simply cannot drill the wall, a tripod or fixed floor stand is cheaper and steadier.

If the screen never leaves the wall, a full motion wall mount or a fixed bracket costs far less and frees the floor entirely.

Where trolley stands earn their keep

Classrooms and training rooms

One interactive panel can serve several rooms. Common in Sri Lankan schools and tuition classes, where a single smart board moves between sessions rather than sitting idle on a wall.

Conference rooms

For video conferencing, the display goes to wherever the meeting is. The shelves hold the camera and codec, and the casters let you reconfigure the room in minutes.

Showrooms and retail

Displays move for promotions, launches and seasonal layouts. Height adjustment lets you set the screen at eye level for standing customers rather than seated ones.

Trade shows and exhibitions

The classic case: roll it in, lock the wheels, done. Integrated shelves take brochures, demo kit or a laptop.

Clinics and waiting rooms

Where wall mounting is impractical or the layout changes, a cart can be moved for cleaning or reseating.

Homes and rented property

No drilling means no deposit lost. Useful for renters, for bedrooms where the TV moves, and for outdoor viewing where there is no wall to use.

Assembly and installation

Trolley stands ship flat packed and assemble with the supplied bolts and tools. There is no drilling and no wall anchor to get wrong.

  1. Assemble the base and fit the casters
  2. Attach the column or poles to the base
  3. Bolt the bracket to the back of the screen using the VESA holes
  4. Lift the screen and bracket onto the column
  5. Set the height and tighten the locking mechanism
  6. Fit the shelves and route the cables
Step four is the one that catches people out. Lifting a 65 inch screen onto a column takes two people; 75 inch and above takes three. If you would rather not lift the panel, we install in Colombo the same day.

Frequently asked questions

What is a TV trolley stand?

A TV trolley stand is a floor standing bracket on wheels that holds a TV or interactive display. It is also called a mobile TV cart, rolling TV stand or TV trolley. Unlike a wall mount it needs no drilling, and the screen can be moved between rooms or repositioned within a space.

How much does a TV trolley stand cost in Sri Lanka?

TV trolley stands start at Rs 14,500 for a low height rolling stand that fits 32 to 65 inch screens. Height adjustable carts for 32 to 65 inch screens start around Rs 29,500. A 32 to 75 inch stand rated for 75kg is Rs 34,500, and a heavy duty stand for screens up to 100 inches is Rs 39,500. Large multi screen and oversized commercial carts go up to Rs 160,000.

What size TV trolley stand do I need for a 75 inch TV?

For a 75 inch TV, look for a trolley stand rated well above the panel weight, with VESA support up to 600x400. A 75 inch TV weighs 28 to 38kg. The Trolley Movable TV Stand 32 to 75 inch (model 1700) supports screens up to 75kg with VESA patterns up to 600x400mm, tilts -15 to +15 degrees and swivels 360 degrees, which covers a 75 inch panel comfortably.

Can a TV trolley stand hold a smart board?

Yes. Smart board and interactive display trolleys are the same category of product, but they need a higher weight rating and a wider base because a touched screen creates sideways force. Our heavy duty 43 to 100 inch rolling stand supports up to 110kg with VESA patterns to 900x600mm, and the 1800S Movable Smart Board Stand is built specifically for interactive panels.

Do TV trolley stands come with shelves?

Most do. Trolley stands typically include one or more adjustable shelves for AV equipment, laptops, video conferencing hardware or media players. The shelves sit on the column between the base and the TV bracket. The 32 to 75 inch model 1700 and the heavy duty 43 to 100 inch stand both include adjustable AV shelving.

Are TV trolley stands stable?

Yes, when the casters are locked and the weight rating is correct for the screen. The two most common stability problems are a stand rated too low for the TV on top, and casters that were never locked. Choose a stand rated comfortably above your TV weight, check the base is wide enough for the screen size, and lock the wheels once the stand is in position.

Can I move a TV trolley stand between rooms?

Yes, that is the main purpose of a mobile TV cart. The casters roll across hard floors and most carpets. Before you buy, check the doorways and corridors on the route are wide enough for the stand and the screen together, and watch for thresholds and lift sizes. Always lower the screen to its minimum height before moving a large panel.

What is the difference between a TV trolley stand and a TV wall mount?

A wall mount fixes the TV to a wall and does not move. A trolley stand sits on the floor on wheels and can be rolled between rooms or repositioned within a space. Wall mounts are cheaper and save floor space. Trolley stands give you mobility and need no drilling, which matters for rented premises and for walls that cannot take the load.

Do TV trolley stands work for curved TVs?

Most do, as long as the VESA pattern and the weight fall within the stand specification. Curved TVs use the same VESA mounting holes as flat panels, so the bracket fits the same way. The main thing to check is weight, because some curved models are heavier than their flat equivalents.

What brands of TV trolley stands do you sell?

We stock KALOC and North Bayou (NB) mobile TV carts alongside commercial grade trolley and smart board stands, covering screens from 32 inches up to 120 inches. The North Bayou NB-AVA1500-60-1P is a popular professional cart, and the KALOC range covers the heavier commercial sizes.

How is a large TV trolley stand delivered?

Trolley stands ship flat packed in one or two cartons and are assembled on site. We deliver island wide in 1 to 2 days with cash on delivery available. Same day delivery and installation is available in Colombo and the surrounding areas. For upper floor deliveries without a lift, tell us when you order so we can plan the handling.

Can I assemble a TV trolley stand myself?

Yes. Assembly is straightforward and the bolts and tools are supplied. The only demanding step is lifting the screen and bracket onto the column, which needs two people for a 55 inch screen and three for anything above 65 inches. If you would rather not lift the panel, we install in Colombo the same day.

Do TV trolley stands come with cable management?

Most do, usually a channel or clip system along the column that keeps cables tidy and stops them tangling when the stand moves. Cable management matters more on a trolley than on a wall mount, because the cables move every time the stand does.
